Mount Carbon is a borough in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, two miles south of Pottsville. It was formed from North Manheim Township in 1864. The population was 87 at the 2000 census. The borough is the smallest municipality in Schuylkill County. South Centre Street, Main Street, Sherwood Drive and the Mt. Carbon Arch are the only streets of the borough.
Mount Carbon has also had one of the youngest mayors in history, Mayor Jeffrey Dunkel was sworn in as mayor when he was only 18 years old. The borough is considering merger with the City of Pottsville. Merger was shot down by the residents and the borough has been making financial progress since new council took the helm.
It was home for many years to the Mount Carbon Brewery which closed in the late 1970s. D.G. Yuengling & Son bought the rights to use the Mount Carbon (Bavarian) name and label when Mount Carbon Brewery went out of business in 1977. Skateboarding is a recreational activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data found there were 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a skateboard in the last year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the coming years the physical locations of skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation activity for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

Do you want to learn skateboarding?

Learn all of the basic principles of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will show you the basics of skateboarding like how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Regardless, of where you are at.. you can benefit from individualized instruction to meet your skill level.

How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Mount Carbon skate park.
