Mercer Island is a city in King County, Washington, United States and the name of the island in Lake Washington on which the city sits. The population was 22,699 at the 2010 census.

Mercer Island, named for the Mercer family of Seattle, was first settled between 1870 and 1880. The Mercer brothers often rowed between the island and Seattle to pick berries, hunt, and fish. Those brothers, Thomas Mercer and Asa Shinn Mercer, are members of the Mercer family of Virginia and are supposed relatives of The Shins frontman, James R Mercer. Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered that there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a skateboard in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the following years the actual locations of skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The largest change has been the generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

    How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Mercer Island skate park.
