Maywood is a village in Proviso Township, Cook County, Illinois, United States. It was founded on April 6, 1869 and organized October 22, 1881. The population was 26,987 at the 2000 census.
Considered a blue collar community, Maywood had experienced many changes since the closing of American Can Company in the late 1970s. There is a Metra commuter railroad station in the village and it is also served by Pace Bus Service.
Maywood is located 10 miles west of downtown Chicago. Interstate 290, the Eisenhower Expressway, bisects (north and south) the town as it goes from Chicago west to join Interstate 294, the Tri-State Tollway west of Maywood in Hillside. It is located between O’Hare and Midway airports.
There are many gracious century-old homes in relatively unaltered condition, and Maywood boasts 16 homes and properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Maywood and the rest of Proviso Township has a rich history as shown by the Franzosenbusch Heritage Project.

A 2002 report by American Sports Data found there are 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a board in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the ensuing years the actual locations of skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the developed generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation sport for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

 

How you can start skateboard lessons?

 

 

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Maywood skate park.
