Skateboarding is a leisure activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been molded and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data uncovered that there were 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a skateboard in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male.
