Kaukauna /kəˈkɔːnə/ ( listen) is a city in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, United States, on the Fox River, approximately 100 miles (161 km) north of Milwaukee, with a population of 12,983. It is a part of the Appleton, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Appleton-Oshkosh-Neenah, Wisconsin Combined Statistical Area with a combined population of around 350,000. It is considered the easternmost of the Fox Cities.
Prior to 1880, and shortly afterwards, Kaukauna was known as “The Lion on the Fox.” This nickname was changed to “The Electric City” upon the completion of the hydroelectric plant. When the city was incorporated in 1885, it was separated from the adjacent, and still rural, parts of the town. The first land deed in Wisconsin was given to Charles A. Grignon, who built a mansion on the river on Kaukauna’s north side. The home, which bears Grignon’s name, is operated as a museum by the Outagamie County Historical Society.

Skateboarding is a pastime activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data uncovered there are 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the following years the locations of skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The largest change has been the generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation activity for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Kaukauna skate park.
