Hill City is the oldest existing city in Pennington County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 948 at the 2010 census. Hill City is located 26 miles (42 km) southwest of Rapid City on State Highway 16 and on U.S. Route 385 that connects Deadwood to Hot Springs. Hill City is known as the “Heart of the Hills” which is derived from its close proximity to both the geographical center of the Black Hills, and the local tourist destinations.
The city has its roots in the Black Hills mining rush of the late 19th century. Tin mining was dominant in the 1880s and led to an influx of capital and people into the area. As the mining industry subsequently waned, tourism and timber became increasingly important to the area. With the establishment of Mount Rushmore in the 1940s, Custer State Park, and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the Black Hills became known as a tourist destination which Hill City benefited from. Learn all of the fundamentals of skateboarding fast in a one-week camp. We will show you the basics of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. In spite, of where you are at.. you can benefit from personalized instruction to meet your current skill level.

Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the following years the skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the developed generation bubble that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation sport or art for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How to Start:

Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.

Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Hill City skate park.
