Gilboa is a town in Schoharie County, New York, United States. The population was 1,215 at the 2000 census.
The Town of Gilboa is in the south part of the county and is southwest of Albany.
The town was first settled around 1760.
The Town of Gilboa was formed in 1848 from regions taken from the Towns of Blenheim and Broome. The name “Gilboa” is from a location in Israel.
A cotton mill in the community of Gilboa was a major contributor to the early economy of the town, but it was destroyed by a flood in 1869.
In 1926, the Schoharie Creek was dammed to form the Schoharie Reservoir. The original settlement of Gilboa was razed and flooded as part of this project. A new settlement was established north of the reservoir.
In 1870, workers blasting a site for a stone quarry found fossilized remains of tree stumps. In 2004, the tops and fronds of the trees were discovered and, in 2007, the fern-like trees, named Wattieza, were pronounced the oldest known trees on earth.

Do you want to learn how to skateboard?

Study all of the basic principles of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will teach you the principles of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. No matter, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your current skill level.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data uncovered there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a board in the last year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the following years the locations of skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.

The biggest change has been the generation bubble that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation sport for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
