Fort Richardson is a United States Army installation in the U.S. state of Alaska, adjacent to the city of Anchorage.
Fort Richardson was named for the military pioneer explorer, Brig. Gen. Wilds P. Richardson, who served three tours of duty in the rugged Alaska territory between 1897 and 1917. Richardson, a native Texan and an 1884 West Point graduate, commanded troops along the Yukon River and supervised construction of Fort Egbert near Eagle, and Fort William H. Seward (Chilkoot Barracks) near Haines. As head of the War Department’s Alaska Road Commission from 1905 to 1917, he was responsible for much of the surveying and building of early railroads, roads and bridges that helped the state’s settlement and growth. The Valdez-Fairbanks Trail, surveyed under his direction in 1904, was named the Richardson Highway in his honor.

Learn Skateboarding in a Week-Long Course

Skateboarding is a recreational activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data uncovered there were 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a skateboard in the previous year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the ensuing years the actual locations of skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the global mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation sport or art for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

Do you want to learn skateboarding?

Be taught all of the fundamentals of skateboarding fast in a one-week camp. We will show you the basics of skateboarding like how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Regardless, of where you are at.. you can benefit from individualized instruction to meet your current skill level.

How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Fort Richardson skate park.
