Farlington is a small, picturesque village and civil parish in Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 11 miles north of York between Stillington and Sheriff Hutton. A small stream, the Farlington beck, runs through the village.

The village has a friendly pub (Blacksmith’s Arms), a church (St. Leonard’s), a tiny village hall, a red telephone box and a post box.

Farlington, as a name, originates before the Domesday Book. Its origins are almost certainly Anglo Saxon where the meaning would be the settlement (“ton”) of the Farling people/clan.

St Leonard’s Anglican Church, on the outskirts of the village, is substantially a 12th century structure, only altered by the addition of buttresses and windows of various dates and extensive restoration in the twentieth century. Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data uncovered there are 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a skateboard in the last year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the coming years the skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the developed generation bubble that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation activity for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How to Start:

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Farlington skate park.
