OUR SKATE INSTRUCTORS

Douglas B. from Bothell, Washington!

Doug has given lessons before and he likes to teach the basics. He likes to have kids or adults understand the easy tricks come first then into the harder/complex tricks. He intends to teach skaters to be consistent and comfortable through positive feedback constructive criticism and repetition.

Dominic B. from Seattle, Washington!

I started skateboarding when I was 8 years old. Over the past 10 years, skateboarding has become ingrained into my heart and mind. I remember when I was younger, learning how to do kickflips and treflips in my garage during the winter and how good it felt to accomplish what I saw on the tv screens. Through skateboarding, I have learned the discipline to accomplish goals, build confidence, manage stress, and build meaningful relationships. I would love to impart what skateboarding has taught me to someone who wants to learn what skateboarding is all about. I have 7 years of teaching experience ( 1 year as a skateboard instructor) with people of all ages, I have a medical background as an EMT, and I also am a social/ relationally oriented person and would love to share our passion for skateboarding!

Skateboarding is a recreational activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been molded and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data found there were 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a board in the previous year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the following years the locations of skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the developed generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation sport for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
