Cos Cob is a neighborhood and census-designated place in the town of Greenwich, Connecticut. It is located at 41.033 north, 73.6 west, on the Connecticut shoreline in southern Fairfield County. It had a population of 6,770 at the 2010 census.
Cos Cob is located on the western side of the mouth of the Mianus River. The American Impressionist Cos Cob Art Colony flourished in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. An offshoot of the group, the Art Society of Greenwich, continues to support local artists in town.
The community name is derived from the Coe family. In 1641 Robert Coe moved to the Stamford plantation and became one of its leading figures. At about the same time, he encouraged a cousin (John Coe) to sail from England and settle at the mouth of the Mianus River where he was granted 5 acres (20,000 m) of land. Do you want to learn skateboarding?

Learn all of the basics of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will show you the principles of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Irrespective, of where you are at.. you can benefit from individualized instruction to meet your skill level.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered that there are 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a skateboard in the last year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the ensuing years the skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The largest change has been the developed generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation sport for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How to Start:

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Cos Cob skate park.
