Antioch on the Orontes (Greek: Ἀντιόχεια ἡ ἐπὶ Δάφνῃ, Ἀντιόχεια ἡ ἐπὶ Ὀρόντου or Ἀντιόχεια ἡ Μεγάλη; Georgian: ანტიოქია; Armenian: Անտիոք Antiok; Latin: Antiochia ad Orontem; Arabic:انطاکیه, Anṭākiya; also Great Antioch or Syrian Antioch) was an ancient city on the eastern side of the Orontes River. It is near the modern city of Antakya, Turkey.
Founded near the end of the 4th century BC by Seleucus I Nicator, one of Alexander the Great’s generals, Antioch eventually rivaled Alexandria as the chief city of the Near East and was a cradle of Gentile Christianity. It was one of the four cities of the Syrian tetrapolis. Its residents are known as Antiochenes. Once a great metropolis of a half million people, it declined to insignificance during the Middle Ages because of repeated earthquakes, the slaughter of its inhabitants by a Mameluk army in 1268, and a change in trade routes, following the Mongol conquests, which then no longer passed through Antioch from the far east.

Jason H. from Lafayette, California!

Jason is the leading skate instructor for Go Skate in the East Bay. He teaches at most of the skateparks including Walnut Creek, Berkeley, San Ramon, Alameda, and more… Jason has experience teaching private lessons, group lessons, demos, and birthday parties. He has taught Go Skate for several years. Jason comes with a recommendation from the CEO of Go Skate. Jason is from Utah and has given some lessons out in Utah. Jason is mostly a bowl skater who can teach speed and flow. All stock tricks and a few flip tricks (toe-heel).

A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data discovered that there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a board in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the ensuing years the skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the generation bubble that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a natural participation activity for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
