Alto Pass is a village in Union County, Illinois, United States. The population was 388 at the 2000 census. The Bald Knob Cross and Bald Knob Wilderness are nearby.
Alto Pass is located at 37°34′11″N 89°19′8″W / 37.56972°N 89.31889°W / 37.56972; -89.31889 (37.569758, -89.318873).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km), of which, 2.2 square miles (5.7 km) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.92%) is water.
Settlers traveling between Anna and Carbondale got their covered wagons hung up in many springs throughout the Shawnee National Forest and decided to found Alto Pass there. This is where Alto Pass’ deep tradition of mudding comes from.
Bald Knob Cross is located approximately 5 miles southwest of the village.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data found there are 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the last year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the ensuing years the skate parks have more than tripled making skateboarding more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation sport or art for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

We will show you the principles of skateboarding such as how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Alto Pass skate park.
