Akron (pronounced /ˈækrən/), is the fifth largest city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Summit County. It is located in the Great Lakes region approximately 39 miles (63 km) south of Lake Erie along the Little Cuyahoga River. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 199,110. The Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area covers Summit and Portage counties, and in 2010 had a population of 703,200. Co-founded by Paul Williams and surveyor of the Connecticut Western Reserve General Simon Perkins, Akron was settled in 1825 as a strategic point at the summit of the developing Ohio and Erie Canal. Williams arrived in the area during 1811 and suggested the settlement to Perkins who had been in Ohio since 1807. Joshua M. from Akron, Ohio!

I’m Joshua Mace, a 27-year-old graphic design student who enjoys skating on a daily basis as means of exercise and stress release. Skateboarding offers great potential to young people as a means of improving confidence and self-reliance. While not a team sport in itself, it is the culture of skateboarding that provides a backdrop for our youth to relate to, all while giving them an outlet for creative expression and personal growth.

Alexander M. from Akron, Ohio!

Alex has skated for 7 years and continues to do so. He is an intermediate-level skateboarder himself and retains the ability to do intermediate-level tricks (ollie, kickflip, heelflip, 360 flips), as well as perform all of them in the switch stance. He is a college student with a great deal of responsibility and is incredibly family oriented. He is good with kids and retains a great deal of patience for those that may not learn quickly. He would be honest in his opinion regarding whether or not the student is progressing at a reasonable pace for the number of lessons provided or if there should be more practice/time dedicated outside of lessons in order to see improvement.
