Fort Lauderdale FL SKATEBOARD LESSONS!

OUR SKATE INSTRUCTORS

Benjamin S. from Fort Lauderdale, Florida!

I would be a good instructor for many reasons. The first one is that I have been involved with skateboarding since I was 12 years old (I’m 28 now). Also, back in the day, I was hooked up by a small local skate team in Erie, PA called Free Skate. It never really took off but it was fun while it lasted. Also, I currently work a standard 9-5 job, so I know about the importance of punctuality and professionalism. Finally, I love to skate! I don’t do it near as much as I used to, but I still love riding, and given the opportunity, would love to share the passion with someone new to the game.

Nick W. from Fort Lauderdale, Florida!

Nick is an exceptional and passionate skateboarder. He is no ordinary 25-year-old skateboarder he has been fortunate enough to be able to embrace skateboarding in a way many others are not able to experience. He received his first skateboard, a Bam Element board, at the age of ten after being inspired by Bam Margera. After that, he excelled quickly at the sport dedicating as much time as possible, receiving his first sponsor at the age of 14, a Sunday skate shop. By 16 he was flowing for baker skateboards, Emerica shoes, thunder trucks, spitfire wheels, and Altamont clothing. At 16 he was flown out to LA to film a video part for the baker. No more than one week into being there he was seriously injured, fractured elbow, and a hematoma on the brain. Sent back home a broken hopeless kid. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, he didn’t skate for 2 years. He thought about it every day and lived a life without purpose. Once fully healed he started slowly to skate again, knowing his dream of being professional was gone, He skated fully for love and passion and believes that’s what skating is about. He finished high school and went to college, skating the whole time. Progressing in life and skating, by 24 he picked up some flow sponsors along the way. Nick loves kids and prefers to skate with them over adults most of the time. He sees that passion and love, not the completion of who’s the best at the skate park. He holds mini competitions for the kids, and the winner gets his used, and sometimes new product. At 25 he moved to Florida from Buffalo NY. He quickly hooked up with Mad about skateboarding and their sister company Muse which is an after-school program for kids that has a skating program. He and his girlfriend work there when they have the time. Nick has been in Ft Lauderdale for about 6 months now and finally feels settled and would love to reach out and work with more children. He has always taught kids, most of the time out of passion but also for pay. Nick is now 25, rides for flip skateboards is mad about skateboarding, and Spitfire has never let him go as a flow rider.

Skateboarding is a recreational activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data discovered that there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a board in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the following years the locations of skate parks tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.

The most significant change has been the generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation activity for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
