The Scott Carpenter Skatepark is a 16,000 square foot facility that opened in 1999 and underwent expansion in 2021, with phase 1 handled by Site Design Group and phase 2 by Evergreen Skateparks. This unsupervised skate-at-your-own-risk park features a street course with rails, curbs, and free-flowing forms and bowls, providing an enticing environment for skateboarders.
The skatepark is free and open to skateboarders, and while the use of protective pads is not mandatory, it is highly recommended by the city of Boulder. The facility operates under simple and clear rules, encouraging users to be courteous, take turns, and have fun. It is designated for skateboarding and in-line skating only, with no bikes allowed. Users are also reminded to dispose of trash properly and refrain from tagging or defacing city property.
For artistic expression, a designated graffiti wall is provided just north of the Scott Carpenter Skatepark. Spectators are requested to stay behind the fence for their safety and that of skatepark users.
