Chadd was born and raised in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada and started skateboarding when he was about 4 or 5 thanks to my parents getting me my first skateboard. Chadd didn’t really know how to ride so he would just go up to the top of hills and skate luge down them on my knee or back which was a lot of fun! Then Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game came out and all the local kids started boarding so Chadd had to get in on it too. He started slowly progressing learning how to do basic tricks and so forth but because I didn’t have a sponsor I felt it was going no where except for when I wanted to have fun and relieve stress from the day. For me skateboarding was a way to meet new friends and just hang out together. Then in High School things really changed, skateboarding was not popular and Chadd got picked on and jumped for being a skater. Sadly Chadd also twisted and shifted my ankle out of place on top of it all, so he put away my skateboard for about 6 years.
After going through a lot of serious life changing events Chadd now suffer from post traumatic stress disorder, Severe Depression, Anxiety and Panic attacks. Then one day Chadd saw a post on face book for Hippie Mikes Tour Of Surrey Skateboard Contest, since he had been in a contest before, he decided he couldn’t pass it up!. The only contest I had ever seen was Slam City Jam, but that was for professional skateboarders, not a local contest for anyone any age, so I was stoked. I went to the Hippie Mikes skate jam and had the time of my life! Chadd started going to his public events more and more, as well as to other skateboard events and I started to notice and realize a difference in myself! That skateboarding was helping me cope not only with stress but being able to go out and deal with my anxiety and my post traumatic stress disorder. He also started to progress a lot quicker doing a lot harder new technical tricks that I’ve thought he’d ever be able to do! His skateboard style I would say is a mixture of new school and old school street skateboarding with a ginger spice of freestyle. He finally started to get recognized for the talent and passion he has for skateboarding, and was blessed to be asked to join the family of 4 different skateboard sponsors!
Chad’s Skateboarding Lesson Bio:
I started a you tube channel to share my passion and dedication to skateboarding which is under my name Chadd Sinclair. I have about 6000 subscribers now! I started giving back to the local kids at events as well online as much as I could. Its still really hard at times and every day is a battle dealing with my conditions but the people I have met are really amazing and supportive. The vast majority of skaters in the skateboard community will welcome anyone, any age any background with open arms. But the freestyle community treats and welcomes everyone as if you were their own brother, part of their family. I really love skateboarding and will skate till the day I die!
