Skateboarding is a pastime activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data found there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled had used a board in the previous year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the ensuing years the skate parks tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The largest change has been the developed generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

I’m a full-time musician and gymnastics coach. I spent multiple years as a manager at Camp Woodward teaching all camp gym sports, skateboarding, rock climbing, and Parkour. I grew up skateboarding with “Thrasher Magazine Skater of the Year” Ishod Wair and lived for years with Puerto Rican Olympic skateboarder Steven Piniero as his filmer/photographer.

I started skating at 5 years old when my dad brought home a skateboard he found at a junkyard. I developed a passion for skateboarding right away. As a kid, I would build my own ramps from any materials I could find. My passion for both skateboarding and building ramps led to my own business. I ran a portable skatepark from 2008-2014. The skatepark would be set up at events such as county fairs and summer camps for kids. My team and I would put on a show and teach kids how to skate. More recently, I have been in the professional field stuck behind a desk. I enjoy whenever I can get out and teach kids how to skate.
