Hurst is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. Hurst is one of the Mid-Cities between Fort Worth and Dallas, but is a suburb of Fort Worth. The city was founded by William Letchworth Hurst. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 37,337.
Hurst is located at 32°50′8″N 97°10′49″W / 32.83556°N 97.18028°W / 32.83556; -97.18028 (32.835629, -97.180172).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.9 square miles (25.6 km²), all land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 37,337 people, 14,652 households, and 10,261 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,662.6 people per square mile (1,414.7/km²). There were 15,761 housing units at an average density of 1,487.2 per square mile (574.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 80.9% White, 5.6% African American, 0.7% Native American, 2.3% Asian, 0.3% Pacific Islander, 7.20% from other races, and 1.93% from two or more races. A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered that there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the ensuing years the skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.
