Hamden is a town in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. The town’s nickname is “The Land of the Sleeping Giant.” Hamden is home to Quinnipiac University. The population was 58,180 according to the Census Bureau’s 2005 estimates. Hamden is a suburb of the city of New Haven.
In 2008, Fortune Magazine and CNN Money picked Hamden as #33 on their “Best Place to Live and Launch” list, citing Hamden’s great blend of urban and suburban lifestyles. The article also pointed out Hamden’s exceptional education system as well as its “New England Charm”.
Originally settled by Puritans as part of the town of New Haven, Hamden was purchased by Theophilus Eaton and Reverend John Davenport in 1638 from the local Quinnipiack Native American tribe. It remained a part of New Haven until 1786 when 1,400 local residents incorporated the area as a separate town, naming it after the English statesman John Hampden.

Do you want to learn how to skateboard?

Is the fear of falling keeping you from progressing? Find out all of the basic principles of skateboarding quickly in a one-week camp. We will teach you the basics of skateboarding like how to balance, push, turn, proper foot placement, and how to stop. Regardless, of where you are at.. you can benefit from customized instruction to meet your current skill level.

Skateboarding is a leisure activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been molded and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data uncovered there are 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the ensuing years the skate parks tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.

The biggest change has been the generation that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation sport or art for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.

How you can start skateboard lessons?

  • Equipment: We recommend a board and a full set of safety gear. This includes: a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. Rental equipment is available.
  • Location: We can do lessons in your driveway, in your garage, or at the Hamden skate park.
